Hi Everyone! My sincerest apologies for the lack of blog updates. Things have been very busy in Matt and Michelle land. I just got a new teaching job, which will start in a few weeks!!! Add in working on my thesis show and graduating, and we have been very distracted!
Matt and I have taken a bit of a break from estate sales in the South Bay because of a bad experience we had a few weeks ago. First we went to an amazing sale, but ONE woman came in and bought all of the mid century furniture to resell. And at another I was pushed by an elderly man who was trying to get to some maps. I feel like San Jose estate sales are all about reselling and making money, and not about treasure hunting. We're both tired of the rude behavior.
We have, however, enjoyed going to estate sales on the Peninsula because the crowd is a bit...higher class...and the items are as well (aka no baby stuff). Since I'll be working in that area now, it will be easier to visit these sales.
Since my last post we got two "80s does 50s" lawn chairs, a 60s lounge lawn chair, a late 60s armchair, and some fun records!
And, last but not least...
Because of my new job, I'll need to switch my wardrobe from Cindy Brady to Carol Brady. I'm selling a bunch of silly dresses on Etsy and Ebay in the next few weeks!
E-Bay Link!
And super last but not least...
I adopted the neighbors' cat when they moved!!! Hurray for Ashes!!!
Until next time...

Fishnet Magazine!
I am officially in charge of the music column at a new magazine called Fishnet! It's unpaid, but a great opportunity to use my writing and photography skills. I'll be interviewing bands, doing record reviews, posting tour dates, and more! I also want to broaden the column to music enthusiasts as well, so interviews with record collectors, radio DJs, etc.
I'm super excited for this opportunity! We'll be photographing the cover of the magazine next week using clothes from the Baby Byrd Vintage collection.
I'll update more soon!

Art
As many of my followers know, both Matt and I both have a huge love for art. Matt draws and paints, and I do photography and mixed media. Recently I've discovered a few new artists and artistic resources that I would like to share!
1. Steven Berkman
(Photo by Photo by Brittney Cathey-Adams
I had the amazing opportunity to see Steven Berkman speak at the Tuesday Night Lectures at San Jose State University. He then visited our graduate seminar afterwards and spoke to us about his work. The photo above is of the lovely professor of Photography, Robin Lasser and Steven Berkman.
Man with a Downtrodden Banana
A Wandering Eye
Not only an amazing speaker, but a wonderful photographer as well. With the overabundance of digital images, it is reassuring to know that photographers still prefer wet darkroom processes, in this case, ambrotypes.
2. Bay Area Art Grind
This blog is a great resource for photographers looking for Bay Area events! It is run by a former SJSU MFA alum, and is updated daily! Thanks Barb!
3. Also, this is too late, but Stephen Shore is lecturing tonight at SFMOMA 7-9PM. If you haven't checked out his work, do so!
4. Andy Denzler
